Sterile
Technologies, Inc. (STI) manufactures the Industrial EtO Catalytic
Oxidizer CATOX® systems for Ethylene Oxide (EtO) emission
control of sterilization environments. The equipment is designed
to destroy EtO evacuated from sterilization chambers and aeration
rooms. Our equipment consists of enclosed catalyst beds, air heaters,
fans and microprocessor supervisory control systems required for
automatic operation. The system is delivered ready for installation.
STI
provides Catalytic Oxidizer CATOX® systems with a separate,
independent and individual microprocessor based “Supervisory”
control system. This system is completely automatic, monitors
and controls multiple sterilizers and provides additional level
of safety and economy to the operation of the equipment and sterilization
facility.
The
operation of the EtO CATOX® system is as follows:
Fresh air is introduced into the oxidizer through prefilters,
heat exchanger, and heaters. The filtered air is heated to a minimum
of 280ºF (138ºC). The Ethylene Oxide (EtO) exhaust from the sterilizer
chamber is evacuated into the EtO-CATOX® system. The
diluted and heated EtO is introduced into the catalytic bed where
the exothermic reaction destroys the EtO. Heat can be recovered
via a heat exchanger to heat aeration rooms and further add to
the economic operation of the sterilization facility.
